From the old building structure, they've kept only the foundation on most parts. The foam glass was placed between the old and the new footing wall. Given the thermal insulation properties of the 20-cm compacted foam glass, the thickness - as provided in the initial plans - of the thermal insulation under the concrete base layer was reduced.
