Light Filling under Roof Sports Ground (Szent Margit Highschool) 

On the roof of the Szent Margit Highschool in Budapest a sports ground was built on a light filling layer of Energocell® foam glass granules. The designing architects chose to use the granules for levelling the sloped layers precisely for their light specific weight (150-175 kg/m3). What's more, due to its large volume of voids this material is an extremely efficient water drainer, therefore sudden and heavy rainfalls do not impose substantial loads on the roof. The contractor incorporated a layer of more than 300 m3 Energocell® compacted with a vibratory plate and covered it with fine fractions and crumb rubber for infilling. Finally, on this layer structure the sports ground was installed.
